Pride Matters to me because its personal. I'm the proud mom of a lesbian daughter. I want her to grow up knowing shes worthy of love, respect and the freedom to be exactly who she is. Pride isn't just a celebration. Its a reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen and accepted. My support isn't conditional, and ill always stand beside her, not just during Pride month, but everyday!
Pride is important because seeing other people like you living their lives unashamed can give you the confidence to do the same. It can illuminate and open the world. It can give you a voice you didn't know you had and the courage to use it. To Sing, to shout, to laugh and live out loud.
Pride is important because I once thought I was alone. I thought the world was dark and small and I had no place in it. But I saw other people living lives I had not considered possible. And now the world is big and bright and full of love.
